MILKY STORMS KINGS RACE FOR TORNADO - 18/07/10

So long the brides maid Perranporth's Milky Byatt took round 2 of the Legacy series by storm last night in the Woolacombe Kings Race . With Bonus points on offer for stage places he timed his finish to perfection to take the lead at the conclusion of the last board to beat series leader Dan Humble with Robbie Sandbach in 3rd place.
With a winning time of 1hour 29mins and 15 seconds and only the well established star studded team of Nick Thorn, Keith Gammon and Mark Ressell finishing before him he said;; 'This is a real endurance Iron man event!'

In the Womens field it was Ellie Parker who established an early lead and was never headed although the placings behind her kept changing. Team Storm had Fay Mills coming into form at the right time to take 2nd place with Tornado Holly Hawkey 3rd.

In the under 18 Boys James Bunney got off to a flying start taking out the opening 1K run, but he suffered from the cold temperature and the cutting wind. Once again Freddie Hedger of Team Hurricane won the event finishing a very respectable 8th overall with team mate Tom Bolt 2nd and Thunder's Joe Wall 3rd.
The young girls who may have found it particularly tough in these conditions showed there could be an exciting time for British lifesaving if they all stay in the sport. Mesha Wardman finished first with Grace Clark 2nd and Kersten Watts 3rd.

With many individuals not completing this gruelling challenge a special mention should go to Nia Thomas who earned valuable points in finishing this race where many ahead of her did not. Well done Nia.

In the team event it was Thorn Gammon and Ressell 1st, with Tom Clark and Marcus Hutchins 2nd and Coach Richard Lark and youngster Lily Nicholls (who is sidelined from running at prezsent) 3rd.
